3 December As the Holiday Shopping Season Begins, More Consumers Turn to Cyber Monday Sales December 3, 2018By Stephanie Wise Technology Black Friday, Christmas, Cyber Monday, Holidays, Shopping, Technology 0 With Thanksgiving now over, the holiday shopping season has officially begun. As consumers carefully pick out gifts for their friends and families, many decided to pursue Cyber Monday Sales over traditional Black Friday sales. Safeware, a leading provider of product protection and extended warranty solutions, recently investigated consumer purchasing trends this holiday season. According to PracticalEcommerce.com, this year’s Cyber Monday holiday resulted in $7.9 billion in revenue, the highest U.S. commerce sales day in history. This is almost a 20% increase over 2017 sales. Digital Trend’s website notes that Monday was Amazon’s single biggest shopping day in terms of number of items sold in the history of the company. Popular items purchased included the new Amazon Echo Dot smart speaker, Bose’ noise-cancelling headphones, Apple products, and Google Chromecasts. Many chain stores that saw a decrease of in-store sales this year made up for the lack of in-person shoppers on Thanksgiving and Black Friday by increasing their online sales. Over 54% of visits to online retailers on Cyber Monday came from mobile devices. Mobile device traffic collectively accounted for almost 36% of revenue over the five-day period between Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Regardless of when consumers decide to do their holiday shopping, Safeware is proud to offer inclusive product protection for technology, appliances, furniture, fitness equipment, and more.
