Whether it’s crunching numbers into excel at work, studying your Quizlets for an upcoming exam, or just playing nonstop video games, your eyes could use a break every once in a while. Eye doctors suggest the 20-20-20 rule to ease eye strain. What is the 20-20-20 Rule? For every 20 minutes spent staring at a screen, choose an object 20 feet away and stare at it for 20 seconds. This allows your eyes enough time to take a break and relax. In addition to the 20-20-20 rule, water and green tea is another way to ease eye strain. Drinking a lot of water ensures a hydrated body which equals hydrated eyes. As for green tea, it contains antioxidants that protect the eyes and soothe their irritation. As a bonus, you will get to take additional eye breaks when you head to the restroom after all that tea and water! Although researchers conclude that digital devices do not damage eyesight, the side effects can cause serious discomfort. In order to remain up and running for everything you do, it is important to take the 20 seconds and give your eyes a rest throughout the day.
